Wheres Caffeinated?

Hello,

This is just a quick post about Caffeinated. Some of you may have been following @caffeinatedapp for a long time now, since is started off and are curious to why its taking so long to get something into your hands. Firstly, some of you regard to “us” as “team”, when in-fact there is only one of me :D. Due to being a Web Developer as a job, I only get my evenings / weekends to actually develop the app, this can prove difficult at times due to staring at a screen all day then coming home and the last thing I want to do is continue staring at another screen. Im also a hardcore gamer, so it works around me caining games aswell.

Caffeinated is coming along at a steady pace, I will not rush it to get it into your hands faster, I just want it to be the most beautiful RSS reader there is with a community behind it with plugins and themes, but as you know it takes time. Bare with me guys / girls, im sure it will be worth the wait ;)

  1. Have you seen this http://twitter.com/reederapp/status/21076728328? Caffeinated may die soon after birth, in the world of RSS / Google Reader for Mac, who first hit it takes everyone with him.

    • It may well do, I hope not, I hope to build a community base around Caffeinated. But I agree, Reeder does seem to pull users away from anything, but theres alot of fancy things he does with iOS with tables which is very difficult to implement into OSX, but it will be interesting. It still doesn’t make me want to rush it. =]

  2. Hi! I’m Diego, from Spain, I had been looking for your mail in the site or twitter to send you a private mail, but I didn’t find it. So here it’s the message.

I’m graphic designer and I work in a software company. I was using reeder during beta period, and I like it. But when it became a payment app I looked for alternatives. I don’t think $10 dollars is too expensive, I’ll probably buy it. But just wanted to know what other options there were out of Reeder. Your app is the only one comparable with it. And now I understand their success. Because both, Reeder and Caffeinated are the only apps that think in the design, not just like only appearance, more like a way to help to read and understad the amount of info you read when you are subscripted to different blogs.

About reeder I like the way you control everything just using the trackpad and some simply shortcuts like “M” to unread. But to me sometimes it becomes too slow. The other think I like of course is the interface, probably one of the better OSX apps.

About Caffeinated I like how fast it is, the articles column with the selected article fixed. Interface is solid and I just found one or two small buggies, nothing too important.

But the think I don’t like as much as the rest of the app is the article viewer, I know is HTML and is absolutely customizable, but to me the default theme need to be confortable for all the people, people who doesn’t know or want to look for themes or change them in the app. And just editing a little the one you are using I think is possible have a better result. I’m not a code master, so I just changed the things easy to change, fonts sizes, colors, positions. Nothing too important. The theme is almost the same, just less overdesigned (if that word exist) it juist give more importance to the content and less to the container.

If you want it, I could send it to you, I wanted to send it to you bt mail directly, but where is your contact webpage!? haha… If you like it it’s all for you. Of course for free. I don’t want money or something like that. I just tink your app is really cool and I like design, so I’m happy to contribute.

Thanks for reading this looooooong message and just tell me if you want the files.

Bye man!! Buena suerte en tu proyecto!!
